Adam was as prolific and creative as they come – he worked in all aspects of music as a singer, a songwriter, a producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He worked in film, in television, and on stage – perhaps best known from his various bands Ivy, Fountains of Wayne, and the supergroup Tinted Windows. He contributed unforgettable music for films like That Thing You Do, Ice Age, Josie & The Pussycats, Something About Mary, and dozens others. He wrote for The Monkees. He even wrote the sweetest imaginable songs for Sesame Street. Tragically, he fell suddenly on April 1st as a result of Coronavirus complications. He was only 52. If ever there were a time to tell someone you love them, this is that time. Adam will be sorely missed. His music and spirit will resonate in our hearts and minds for years to come.
So please join us as shed some tears, share some fears, and celebrate the brilliance of Adam Schlesinger.

On this Six-Pack episode Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, and Jeff Harris of Behind The Grooves rejoin Eric Miller of Pods & Sods to celebrate the life of Denise Matthews, known to the world as Vanity. From her early days working with Prince on his Vanity 6 side project, through their breakup and her subsequent solo albums with Motown, to her acting career in such films as The Last Dragon (“who’s the master!?!?”) and Action Jackson, to her being born again and preaching the gospel, Vanity lived quite a storied and tumultuous life. We vacillate between her sex symbol image and the tragic figure that never really got a fair shake – with the mixture you’d expect of teenage boyish giggles for the gorgeous girl on our walls and the deep thoughts as emotionally intelligent guys wanting her to find balance and redemptive peace she sought… did she? We discuss that and much more between some VERY explicitly sexy songs courtesy of Vanity, the Purple One, and others. You’ve been warned!
So sit back and revisit the life of Denise Matthews aka Vanity.

There is a fair amount of back and forth in this one, how cool is Huey? What is their place in the business? Who’s to say what’s cool or not cool anyway?!? Ultimately who gives a sh*t, their work speaks for itself.
